Laser Tattoo Removal Preparation
Pre-Care Checklist for Laser Tattoo Removal
Revise Laser has several key preparation steps you can take to ensure a safe and effective Laser Tattoo Removal session. At Revise Laser, we want to help you achieve the best possible results while minimising the risk of side effects. Please review the following pre-treatment guidelines carefully and follow them in full prior to your appointment.
1–2 Weeks Before Your Appointment
Avoid any direct sun exposure to the area that will be treated. This includes sunbathing and the use of tanning beds, both of which can increase your skin’s sensitivity and the risk of pigmentation changes or other complications. You should also avoid applying fake tan products—including sprays, mousses, or lotions—on or near the treatment site.
If the area may be exposed to sunlight, be sure to apply a high-quality, broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or above. Keeping the area protected from UV rays is essential for preparing the skin and promoting safe, effective treatment.
You should also stop using any skincare products that can sensitise the skin. This includes retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and any other exfoliating or active ingredients. If you are currently taking antibiotics or have used Accutane (isotretinoin) in the last 6 to 12 months, please inform us during your consultation, as these medications may affect your skin’s healing capacity.

48–72 Hours Before Your Appointment
We recommend avoiding alcohol and smoking during the 48–72 hours leading up to your session. Alcohol can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising, while smoking may slow down your body’s natural healing process, potentially reducing the effectiveness of the treatment.
We may advise you to gently shave the area to be treated the night before your appointment using a clean, sharp razor. This helps the laser target the ink without interference from surface hair. However, only do this if explicitly recommended during your consultation with Anna.
On the Day of Your Laser Tattoo Removal Appointment
Please arrive with clean, product-free skin. Do not apply any make-up, deodorant, body oils, lotions, creams, or perfumes to the treatment area. Simply wash the area gently using a mild soap and lukewarm water before your appointment.
To help maintain comfort during your session, we suggest eating a light meal beforehand. This can help prevent feelings of nausea or light-headedness that may occur due to nerves or the nature of the treatment.
Wear loose-fitting, comfortable clothing that won’t rub or irritate the area being treated. This is especially important if your tattoo is located on a part of the body that regularly experiences friction, such as the waistband, shoulders, or feet.
If you intend to use a topical numbing cream, ensure that a patch test has been completed in advance. Apply the cream following the instructions provided—usually around 30 to 60 minutes before your appointment—and inform Anna upon arrival.

Important: Please Inform Us If Any of the Following Apply
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have had a recent cold sore outbreak, especially if the tattoo is on or near the lips or face.
- You have any medical conditions or are taking medication that may affect your skins response to treatment or its ability to heal.
